Against the backdrop of today's international conference Caspian Outlook 2008 in Bled, the Prime Minister Janez Janša met the Acting OPEC Secretary General, Mohammed S. Barkindo, to primarily discuss energy security and the significance of a stable global oil market.

The PM and his guest exchanged views on the current condition of the global oil market, which has seen oil prices surge to record highs due to tense geopolitical situation and increasing demand. They both emphasised the significance of a focused EU-OPEC energy dialogue. By assuming the EU presidency, Slovenia is expected to become more actively involved in the dialogue.
