Today in Ljubljana, the Prime Minister of the Republic of Slovenia and President of the European Council, Mr Janez Janša, held a meeting with the President of the European Parliament, Mr Hans-Gert Pöttering. Their talks focused on topical issues on the European policy agenda during the Slovenian EU Council Presidency.

During his talk with Mr Pöttering, the Slovenian Prime Minister outlined the activities of the Slovenian EU Presidency in the light of preparations for the June European Council. The President of the European Parliament made a favourable assessment of the Slovenian EU Presidency to date, highlighting, in particular, practical initiatives to strengthen intercultural dialogue, especially within the Euro-Mediterranean Partnership.

PM Janez Janša and Mr Pöttering also exchanged views on the EU-Latin America and Caribbean Summit to be held this week in the Peruvian capital, Lima.
