The head of deputy group of the Social Democrats, Miran Potrč, asked a question prompted by the Prime Minister’s statement that Slovenia was the first new EU Member State from behind the former Iron Curtain to hold the Presidency of the Council of the European Union. Deputy Barbara Žgajner Tavš from the group of unaffiliated deputies was interested to know what course the Government would pursue in the future with regard to social policy. Matej Lahovnik, head of the Zares group, asked the Prime Minister whether it would not be a good idea, in the light of recent developments in Slovenia, to consider either an interim "technical" government or an early election. The head of the coalition SLS group, Jakob Presečnik, asked whether the establishment of regions was vital for Slovenia’s continued uniform development and how citizens could expect to benefit; he also wondered what negative consequences it might have for Slovenia and its citizens if regions were not established.
