Today, the Prime Minister of the Republic of Slovenia, Janez Janša, attended the ceremony to mark Constitution Day held by the Constitution Court of the Republic of Slovenia.

Constitution Day marks 23 December 1991 when the Assembly of Slovenia passed a new Slovenian Constitution. It has been celebrated since 1997.

The first Slovenian Constitution established the basis for a new legal system, based on respecting human rights and liberties, the principles of social state governed by the rule of law and the separation of powers among legislative, executive and judicial branches.
