Prime Minister Janez Janša will host the Austrian Chancellor on a working visit
At the invitation of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Slovenia, Janez Janša, Dr Alfred Gusenbauer, the Chancellor of the Republic Austria will pay a working visit to Slovenia on Friday, 18 May 2007. The purpose of the visit is to strengthen good neighbourly relations and political dialogue at a high level, particularly in the light of the preparations for Slovenia's presidency of the Council of the EU in the first half of 2008.
On this occasion the Austrian Chancellor will meet his host, the Prime Minister of the Republic of Slovenia, and also the President of the Republic of Slovenia, Dr Janez Drnovšek, the President of the National Assembly, France Cukjati, the leader of the Social Democrats, Borut Pahor, and Austrian citizens, business representatives and the German-speaking community in Slovenia.
The meetings will focus on bilateral cooperation, preparations for Slovenia's presidency of the Council of the EU, presidency priorities, current European issues and other major international issues, particularly the situation and the role of Slovenia and Austria in the Western Balkans.
