Before the informal working lunch with Prime Ministers of EU member states attending the 'A Welcome to the Euro' ceremony, the Prime Minister of the Republic of Slovenia, Janez Janša, met with the Prime Minister of the Slovak Republic, Dr Robert Fico.

Both the host and his guest positively assessed the development of cooperation between the two countries, agreeing it was diverse and that there are no open issues. Mr Fico commended Mr Janša for meeting all the criteria for the introduction of the euro, and for successful adoption of the common European currency.
The Prime Ministers also discussed current EU issues, where both countries have similar views. Mr Fico asserted that Slovakia would constructively cooperate during Slovenia's EU presidency in the first half of 2008.
The Prime Minister Janez Janša and his Slovak counterpart also exchanged views on the situation in the Western Balkans. They agreed that in solving the regions open issues, the international community must pay due attention particularly to maintaining stability.
