At the invitation of the Finnish Ambassador to Slovenia, Mrs Birgitta Stenius-Mladenov, the Slovenian Prime Minister, Mr Janez Janša, today attended a working lunch with the ambassadors of the European Union member states and candidate countries.
Mr Janša presented to ambassadors Slovenia’s positions on the topics to be discussed at the European Council meeting in Brussels tomorrow and on Friday, in particular on the enlargement of the European Union and the Western Balkans.
On this occasion he also informed them about Slovenia’s preparations for the EU presidency in the first half of 2008 and for the adoption of the euro. He described some of the already adopted measures of the economic and social reforms aimed at increasing the competitiveness of the Slovenian economy as well as preparations for further privatisation and Slovenia’s endeavours to promote foreign direct investment.
