The representatives of the negotiating team informed the Prime Minister of their views on the progress of negotiations for the public sector collective agreement. The Prime Minister presented his position regarding social dialogue and said that he hoped the transition to a new salary system in the public sector would be effected as soon as possible. He went on to stress that the Government would insist on a uniform salary system for the public sector as established by law in 2002. The Prime Minister stated that he was pleased that the Government and the trade unions were closer to the signing of the collective agreement than ever before, the differences no longer being insurmountable.
