On the occasion of the 2nd anniversary of the elections when the responsibility for forming the national Government was taken over by the present coalition parties, the Prime Minister, Mr. Janez Janša, pointed out that it has become visible that the Government coalition works successfully and without major problems and that a number of positive changes have been achieved. "It has become manifest that fears according to which things cannot function without those who governed this country during the past 60 years are unfounded", said the Prime Minister.

The Prime Minister pointed out that Slovenia has achieved its best results by far considering the comparison between its economic growth, the inflation and the unemployment. "Two years after the 2004 elections, Slovenia most certainly has a most solid international position, it is the only one of the new Member States to adopt the Euro and it is the first of them to take the EU Presidency. It took over numerous international obligations that it fulfils well and generally enjoys a very solid position within the international community", said the Prime Minister.
Regarding the new tax legislation, Mr. Janša stressed that this is for the first time when Slovenia is in a position to reduce its budget deficit and the taxes. "This is for the first time in Slovenia’s existence that all of its citizens will pay lower taxes. The tax burden on the companies is to decrease together with the budget deficit. Never before have we had such a situation", underlined the Prime Minister.
He expressed satisfaction with the fact that over the past two years many new, young and unencumbered people got the opportunity to prove themselves and that the economy goes well. "The shares of the companies, the latter being the subject of the alleged Government interference concerning the management staff changes, now reach considerably higher prices at the Stock Exchange as this was the case two years ago. The companies have very good business results. In brief, Slovenia’s economy is in good shape", said the Prime Minister and pointed out that the Government in no way interferes with their actual business operation but on the contrary: "In the two coming years and in accordance with its programme, the Government will pull out of the majority of the companies as far as the state shareholdings and the state ownership are concerned", concluded the Prime Minister
