Today at Brdo pri Kranju, the Prime Minister of the Republic of Slovenia, Janez Janša, attended a reception for "golden" secondary school graduates who passed their school-leaving Matura examination or attained an IB diploma with distinction. The PM said that Slovenia sought to build a society that will be based on successful individuals, a society that will show solidarity with those less successful, a society that helps those who cannot help themselves, and a society that recognises the achievements of those who work harder and better, respects them, and rewards them accordingly rather than taking from them.

According to the PM, the key question is how to use knowledge that is learned. It is not enough if you know a great deal; what is vital is that you can use this knowledge. "The emerging society faces bright prospects. Through the knowledge and responsible approach you have shown in school, you will easily find your place in it," said Mr Janša.
Slovenia will make great investments in knowledge. "No single generation before yours has had such opportunities. Make good use of them," added the PM. He also reminded them that life was unpredictable, constantly posing new questions and bringing new challenges. To successfully solve these, one must build on knowledge and values.
In conclusion, Mr Janša congratulated the "golden" students and said that the nation was proud of the best members of the current generation. "And you are the reason – success depends on investment in knowledge and the use of it," stressed Mr Janša after extending his congratulations to the students' parents, teachers, and headteachers.
