The host and his guest both expressed their satisfaction with the increasing trend in mutual trade, which increased by over thirty per cent in 2005. They agreed that today's signing of an Agreement on Economic Cooperation between the countries would open up a number of business opportunities. The PM particularly stressed Slovenia's role as a good starting point for entering markets in the Western Balkans.
They also discussed the progress in and strengthening of cooperation between Europe and China, an issue that will receive particular attention during Slovenia's presidency of the EU in the first half of 2008. PM Janša and Mr Jiaxuan also exchanged views on the situation in the Western Balkans, and other current international issues.
