Prime Minister opens new production line in Revoz
The Prime Minister of the Republic of Slovenia, Alenka Bratušek, and the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Renault, Carlos Ghosn, opened the new production lines in Revoz, which were built under the Edison investment project, and took a tour of the production unit for the manufacture of the new Twingo. Before the opening ceremony, Prime Minister Bratušek and the Minister of Economic Development and Technology, Metod Dragonja, met with the representatives of the company, who assured them that all activities in the company are being carried out according to plans. Renault's Chairman, Carlos Ghosn, commended the work of the Government and thanked Prime Minister Bratušek for the support. Other topics of the meeting were electric vehicles and the vision of the company, also in the light of intensive search for local suppliers.
In her address at the opening ceremony, Prime Minister Bratušek highlighted that Revoz is one of the greatest Slovenian exporters and the only car manufacturer in Slovenia and thus extremely important for Slovenia's economic growth. Despite the discouraging situation, the company had a vision and the courage to continue its successful operations. This is demonstrated by this investment amounting to 450 million euros, which, according to the company's forecasts, will ensure 270 new jobs. The Slovenian Government granted a financial incentive to the investment project, because such projects are of great importance for local and national economy. "We have to ensure a stimulating business environment for domestic and foreign companies. We have to strive to make our country even more attractive for direct foreign investments, as we have a healthy industrial base, well-developed infrastructure and, most of all, educated, qualified and hardworking people," emphasised Prime Minister Bratušek. She continued: "Slovenia has worked hard in the past year. Although many did not trust that this hard work would bear fruit, the most recent forecasts of the European and international institutions confirmed my beliefs. The forecasts for our country for this and the next year have been changed from bad to much more favourable, which proves that we have done more than a good job in the past year. Of course, the measures must continue." Prime Minister Bratušek also congratulated all who participated in the realisation of investment in the new line and expressed her hope that other companies would follow the example, as it is her belief that Slovenia can be a home to large companies that are successful in foreign markets and also contribute to the economic development of the local environment.
