Prime Minister at the 18th Consultations of Slovenian Diplomats: "Our key task is to restore trust in the credibility, effectiveness and openness of Slovenia"
The Prime Minister of the Republic of Slovenia, Alenka Bratušek, attended the 18th Consultations of Slovenian Diplomats. In her address, the Prime Minster said that in the past year Slovenia had lost the trust of its citizens and the international community. Therefore, in 2014, her task as the Prime Minister and that of diplomats representing Slovenia abroad will be "to restore trust in the credibility, effectiveness, openness and attractiveness of Slovenia".
Slovenia has won some trust back but there is still a lot to be done. "The foundations on which we wish to build our future are becoming stronger. We are also well aware that this progress must reach businesses and the everyday life of people as soon as possible. In the light of this, our efforts are directed at increasing competitiveness, economic growth and youth employment, and reforming the health sector," the Prime Minister explained.
She also outlined her view on the role of Slovenian ambassadors. "I believe that Slovenian diplomacy should play a crucial role in promoting Slovenia's interests within European institutions, opening doors for Slovenian companies abroad, including in the third countries where our presence has not been strong so far, building the trust of international stakeholders in Slovenia and creating a climate which will strengthen bilateral and multilateral relations with countries and international organisations," the Prime Minister concluded, wishing the ambassadors every success in the new year.
