Prime Minister at the 4th anniversary of Ypsilon Institute: "The youth is our national interest."
The Prime Minister of the Republic of Slovenia, Alenka Bratušek, attended the ceremony marking the 4th anniversary of the Ypsilon Institute, which brings together young people between 20 and 30 years of age. In her address, she praised their initiative, courage, diligence and will to contribute to the building of our common future. She particularly emphasised that young people are the future of us all and our national interest. They are this Government's priority and the progress made in addressing youth issues proves that.
Among the successful projects of the Ypsilon Institute, Ms Bratušek pointed out the Symbiosis project, through which young people have promoted computer literacy in older generations and left a permanent mark in the fields of intergenerational cooperation, lifelong learning and volunteering. She announced that, as an honorary patroness of the project, she will attend one of the workshops the Ypsilon Institute organises around Slovenia in the week from 21 to 25 October 2013.
She also said that the Government is making every effort to improve the situation of young people and counts on their participation. In light of this she highlighted the National Youth Programme until 2022 and the Youth Guarantee 2014–2020 programme, the purpose of which is to offer to any young person up to 29 years of age a quality job, an opportunity to continue education, or apprenticeship or traineeship in the period of four months after completed education. She also announced that she will attend the session of the Government Council for Youth, where youth issues will be discussed in detail.
At the close of her address, Ms Bratušek congratulated the recipients of Ypsilon+ awards and wished everybody a pleasant celebration. She said that she hoped they were content with the past work and filled with optimism and enthusiasm for the future.
