PM concludes her visit to Bosnia and Herzegovina and Serbia
On the final day of her working visit to Bosnia and Herzegovina and Serbia, the Prime Minister of the Republic of Slovenia, Alenka Bratušek, met the Serbian President Tomislav Nikolić. Their talks focused on the recent floods in Serbia and the consequences of this disaster faced by the residents of the affected areas.
President Nikolić thanked the Slovenian Primer Minister and the Slovenian people for prompt response and aid. In this light they also touched upon the international donor conference that will be held in July on the initiative of the Slovenian Prime Minister to provide aid to the flood-stricken areas.
Later on, the Prime Minister and the Serbian Minister of Mining and Energy, Aleksandar Antić, visited the flooded Kolubara coalfield. The coalfield management thanked the Slovenian Prime Minister for assistance that reached the area within the first 24 hours. The Slovenian Prime Minister's visit was seen as a very positive sign confirming that Slovenia is a friendly country. Prime Minister Bratušek, accompanied by the Serbian Minister of Defence, Bratislav Gašić, also made a tour of the elementary school and health centre buildings in Obrenovac, which had been badly damaged by the flood. In her statement to the press following her visit to the flood-stricken area, Ms Bratušek said that Slovenia would continue to provide assistance to the best of its abilities and that the Slovenian Government had already approved a donation of urgently needed medicines on the previous Monday. "We will help to get life back to normal in these areas as soon as possible," said the Prime Minister and added: "I wish to convey to the citizens of Slovenia the gratitude of Serbian authorities for the provided assistance."
