The Prime Minister of the Republic of Slovenia, Alenka Bratušek, attended a ceremony marking the opening of the long-distance power line 2x400 kV at Beričevo, which represents the shortest transmission path of electricity from Posavje to central Slovenia. In her address, the Prime Minister stressed that the "power line will bring long-term benefits to Slovenia's economy. The price of electricity may sink due to reduced electricity losses resulting from the high level of transmission system utilisation. The power line will also have a direct long-term positive impact on all users by ensuring greater flexibility of the national electricity system and more reliable power supply."

The Prime Minister emphasised that reliable supply should be the primary objective of Slovenia's electricity network. "A few months ago, we witnessed in the most painful manner how man's efforts can be dwarfed by the power of nature. As I watched electricity workers re-erect electricity poles and pillars bent like blades of grass by ice storm in Postojna, Logatec, Zaplana and many other towns and villages, my major concern was the reliability of electricity supply," she added.

At the close of her address, the Prime Minister congratulated the Eles company on the successful completion of the new power line and stressed that  cttogether, hand in hand, with the government, local authorities and other stakeholders we will certainly be able to avoid potential power outages though appropriate planning and smart implementation.
