The Prime Minister of the Republic of Slovenia, Alenka Bratušek, attends the meeting of heads of government of Central and Eastern European countries and China in the Romanian capital, Bucharest. On the margins of the meeting, the Slovenian Prime Minister met with the Prime Ministers of Bulgaria, Hungary and Romania, and is scheduled to meet with the Chinese Prime Minister Li Keqiang in the evening.

The first meeting of heads of government of China and sixteen Central and Eastern European countries was held in Budapest, Hungary, in 2011. At the next meeting held in Warsaw, Poland the following year, the then Chinese Prime Minister presented twelve points for cooperation between China and the countries of Central and Eastern Europe in the fields of economy, tourism, science and culture. This year's meeting of heads of government of Central and Eastern European countries and China was held under the motto "Cooperation for Mutual Development and Benefit".

In her speech at today's meeting, the Slovenian Prime Minister stressed Slovenia's support to the strengthening of cooperation between the countries participating in this meeting in all areas. She explained that the search for new opportunities for cooperation was particularly important in the light of the still ongoing crisis. In her view, in-depth cooperation should be based on the institutional framework of the European Union and that, in this context, it represented value added for Slovenia as well. "I firmly believe that today's meeting will be successful and that we will conveniently take advantage of all the benefits of formal and informal meetings," added the Prime Minister.

On the margins of the meeting, the Slovenian Prime Minister met with the Prime Ministers of Bulgaria, Hungary and Romania, and later in the day she will also meet with the Chinese Prime Minister Li Keiquiang in order to strengthen the political dialogue and deepen economic cooperation between the two countries.
