Prime Minister Janez Janša congratulates Pope Francis

On behalf of the Government of the Republic of Slovenia and personally, Prime Minister Janez Janša sent heartfelt congratulations to His Holiness Pope Francis on his election and wished him every success, wisdom and spiritual strength in carrying out his responsible and demanding mission.

 

"The relations between the Holy See and the Republic of Slovenia are based on mutual respect and have developed in the spirit of cooperation and friendship. In different fields we share views on numerous international issues, and we share common values in our endeavours for peace in the world, exercise of human rights and a more humane society," the Prime Minister wrote.

 

Mr Janša expressed his belief that joint efforts for prosperity, justice and development of the human family would continue to guide us during this pontificate, and that the good ties between Slovenia and the Holy See would be maintained in the future.
