Prime Minister Janez Janša meets with OECD Secretary General to discuss economic issues

The Prime Minister of the Republic of Slovenia, Janez Janša, today attended a working lunch with the Secretary-General of the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), José Angel Gurría.

 

The Prime Minister and the Secretary-General analysed in detail the economic situation of Slovenia, which has been severely affected by the global economic crisis. They discussed the key short-term and long-term development measures including, in particular, the measures for the rehabilitation of the banking system, the implementation of the pension and labour market reforms. Prime Minister Janša stressed that the Slovenian Government had already adopted a number of fiscal consolidation measures and measures aimed at stimulating lending and improving the business environment to boost the economic recovery.

 

During the meeting, the OECD Secretary-General, José Angel Gurría, expressed his support for the Prime Minister and the entire Slovenian Government and commended Slovenia's efforts to design measures and structural reforms to improve the competitiveness of the economy.

 

The OECD Secretary-General, José Angel Gurría, is attending the Bled Strategic Forum and will also meet other high representatives and of the state and representatives of the civil society.
