Prime Minister Pahor meets Prime Minister of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland David Cameron

Today afternoon, the Prime Minister of the Republic of Slovenia, Borut Pahor, met the Deputy Prime Minister of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, Nick Clegg, with whom he discussed in particular the tackling of the global economic crisis by the two countries and the measures the countries have already adopted and intend to adopt in the future.  Prime Minister Pahor presented in detail to Deputy Prime Minister Clegg Slovenia's structural reforms and its exit strategy.    He also explained how important it is for Slovenia to adopt the pension reform which, however, requires referendum approval before it can enter into force.   Mr Pahor and Mr Clegg also exchanged their views on the current situation in the European Union and in the Euro-zone and talked about its impact on all European markets.   They touched upon the current situation in the Western Balkans and the EU-enlargement towards the Western Balkan countries, and talked about the current situation in Afghanistan and Libya.

   

The discussions between the Slovenian delegation, including also the Minister of Finance, Franc Križanič, and the Minister of Transport, Dr Patrick Vlačič, and Deputy Prime Minister Clegg were also joined by the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, David Cameron, who first of all inquired with Prime Minister Pahor about UK-Slovenia Investment Forum 2011 held in the morning in the EBRD headquarters and pointed out that he himself wishes the already good cooperation between the two countries to be further strengthened. The two Prime Ministers exchanged views on the current situation in North Africa focusing on Libya, and the situation in the Middle East.  At the close of the meeting, Prime Minister Pahor highlighted the importance to continue the EU-enlargement process towards the Western Balkans.  After the meeting, Prime Minister Pahor and Prime Minister Cameron gave brief statements to the press.
