The Prime Minister of the Republic of Slovenia, Borut Pahor, today met with representatives of trade unions and employers. At the meeting, participants discussed proposed amendments to the Employment Relationships Act and proposals for the Mini Jobs Act and the Labour Market Regulation Act. The aforementioned acts are expected to be discussed at the session of the Government scheduled for next Thursday.

As Prime Minister Pahor noted after the meeting, this time the scales tipped in favour of employers and added that at the beginning of this year, when the Minimum Wage Act was adopted, the scales had tipped in favour of trade unions. The Prime Minister is satisfied with the meeting "despite the fact that probably all partners will not be equally satisfied." When drafting legislative amendments, the sustainability of the system should also be considered since social cohesion necessitates the establishment of its underlying conditions, i.e., competitiveness. As regards pension reform, Prime Minister Pahor said that "there are still some disagreements, but positive developments can be noted. Therefore, support must be given to aspirations to continue the discussion on reform even on account of a shorter delay, which is still acceptable and reasonable."
