Prime Minister Pahor attends the 1st session of the Development Council for Bela Krajina and Kočevsko

The Prime Minister of the Republic of Slovenia, Borut Pahor, today attended the 1st session of the Development Council for the Bela Krajina and Kočevsko areas. The Council's initial task is to unite the efforts of the state and the region in finding a systemic solution. Mr Pahor emphasised that there is a need for an adequate solution addressing the topical issues in a manner acceptable to the Government, while at the same time providing conditions for a real improvement of the situation in Bela Krajina and Kočevsko. According to Prime Minister Pahor, the Council is a new instrument of the Government intended to eliminate regional development disparities. Its further task will be to resolve the dilemma of whether or not to adopt a special act for the areas under discussion.
