Prime Minister Pahor attends January meeting of the Managers Association

The Prime Minister of the Republic of Slovenia, Borut Pahor, attended the January meeting of the Managers Association, where he addressed the members of the association and other guests. Prime Minister Pahor said he believed that Slovenia could come out of the crisis as a winner and gave assurances that the measures being prepared by the Government would not impose a burden on the economy. "Along with the necessary changes in the labour market and other reforms, we are attempting to offer incentives for employing the necessary work force," emphasised Mr Pahor.

Prime Minister Pahor emphasised that the state will carry a significant part of the burden to be brought about by the promised adoption of the Minimum Wage Act. "I am aware that managers will not be satisfied with our promise to adopt the Minimum Wage Act without the rest of the package of measures," he said, stressing that, in return, trade unions will have to unconditionally resume negotiations on measures that are not attractive for them.

Prime Minister Pahor underlined that "we will win only if the winners are all of us," and added that "if some are left behind as losers and carriers of the burden of the victory, then the sacrifice is too great to be able to consider ourselves winners." At the close of the address, he expressed his belief that Slovenia is capable of looking to markets outside of Europe, including Russia, China, India, Brazil, and the Arab countries to find business opportunities and attract capital.
