Prime Minister Pahor meets Serbian President Boris Tadić

The Prime Minister of the Republic of Slovenia, Borut Pahor, today held a meeting with the President of the Republic of Serbia, Boris Tadić, at Vila Podrožnik. President Tadić and Prime Minister Pahor agreed that relations between the two countries are very good, with no unresolved issues. However, in the economic area there are still a number of opportunities for closer cooperation.

The Slovenian Prime Minister and the Serbian President focused their talks on an exchange of views on tackling the current economic and financial crisis, further enlargement of the European Union to the Western Balkans and other topical EU issues, whereby Prime Minister Pahor stressed the importance of ratification of the Lisbon Treaty for the future of the European Union.  On this occasion, the Prime Minister also emphasised Slovenia's support of Serbia's endeavours in joining Euro-Atlantic structures.

Mr Tadić and Mr Pahor also devoted special attention to the situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina, which requires a deliberate and comprehensive approach to constitutional changes that can only be adopted within the framework of the European perspective and an enhanced role of the European Union.
