Prime Minister Pahor calls Dražgoše something special in Slovenia

The Prime Minister of the Republic of Slovenia, Borut Pahor, today in Dražgoše attended the commemoration ceremony "Dražgoše 2009", where along with the President of the Slovenian National Assembly, Dr Pavel Gantar, he laid a wreath at the memorial to the fallen in the Battle of Dražgoše.

Attending the ceremony for the tenth year in a row, Mr Pahor said that he always very much likes to visit Dražgoše because this place has a special meaning for Slovenia. "The reason is that the organisers managed to maintain a very strong tradition of this memorial day of the Partisan movement. I think that this was decisively influenced by the fact that in those most precarious days in the early 1990s the organisers knew how to ensure the participation of prominent speakers and that messages from Dražgoše were relevant to Slovenian politics and the society as a whole," said the Prime Minister, expressing his conviction that this would also be true of this year's commemoration.
