The Prime Minister congratulated Mr Kozmus on his achievements, and on this occasion they also briefly discussed their views on the difficulties faced by top sportsmen during and at the end of their careers. "I mentioned that I had received a letter from the President of the Republic of Slovenia in which he undertook to adequately regulate the status of top sportsmen.  I said that it was also my wish that the Government prepare draft proposals for solutions as soon as possible," added Prime Minister Pahor and explained that at its next meeting the Government of the Republic of Slovenia would task the Ministry of

Education and Sport with preparing these proposals in due course.

In this context, Prime Minister Pahor pinpointed the issue of promoting a smooth transition from professional sport to professional career and from professional career to retirement. "The Government can help make these transitions easier, more attractive to sportsmen and also encourage them to do the best they can to reach top results and receive awards like Mr Kozmus did today," said the Prime Minister. In his words, the solutions might not be completely consistent with the wishes of every individual, however the Government will seek solutions encouraging sportsmen to further pursue their success and thus present the country in the best way possible at home and in the international community.
