Prime Minister Pahor on a working visit to Pristina

Late in the afternoon, the Prime Minister of the Republic of Slovenia, Borut Pahor, had a meeting in Pristina with the Kosovar Prime Minister Hashim Thaçi. The two particularly focused on preparations for the upcoming conference entitled "Together for European Union: Contribution of the Western Balkans to European Future" and to take place on 20 March 2010 at Brdo pri Kranju, as well as on the participation of the Republic of Kosovo in this conference.

In his statement to the press following the meeting, Mr Pahor said that "the preparations for the Conference on the Western Balkans are running smoothly; however, there are still certain event-related issues to be resolved."  Prime Minister Pahor assessed today's meeting as successful and went on to say that during the visit "the Kosovar authorities had shown good will by also considering Serbia's problems. I find this attitude extremely important. We are friends with both countries and wish them to find the right way." Elaborating on this issue, Prime Minister Pahor stressed that "one cannot expect the problems to be resolved without efforts, as this is the summit of heads of government and countries that were in conflict, at war, and having border disputes, and not recognising each other," said Prime Minister Pahor. Slovenia is nevertheless on the right path to resolve the remaining open issues in the following two weeks that are left until the beginning of the conference.
