She also discussed with Mr Pahor the operation of the European External Action Service (EEAS) and the need to enhance the role of EU representation in certain parts of the world. The creation of a strong external affairs service, capable of responding to 21st-century challenges, is among the three key priorities of her mandate, she said, adding that "in April, the document representing the legal basis for the work of the EEAS will be adopted, and I am confident that in the following years we will set up a service in which the best efforts of all Member States will be joined."
