Prime Minister Pahor and Minister Kresal open new NBI premises

The Prime Minister of the Republic of Slovenia, Borut Pahor, along with the Minister of the Interior, Katarina Kresal, today opened new premises of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI), the Criminal Police Directorate and the Internal Affairs Inspectorate. In his statement to the press following the event, Prime Minister Pahor stressed that the reason for setting up the NBI were the circumstances requiring the Government to do its utmost to re-establish public confidence in the rule of law by prosecuting the most serious forms of crime.

Mr Pahor went on to express his belief that the establishment of the Bureau would meet public expectations, adding that it had taken the people in charge several months to complete the organisational and staff preparations and to gain experience. "Confidence in the Government and our mutual confidence is one of the key elements for overcoming the crisis. It is my hope and wish that the establishment of the NBI will provide a fresh impetus in re-gaining confidence and self-confidence," added Mr Pahor.

At the close of the event, Prime Minister Pahor congratulated Minister Katarina Kresal and her team at the Ministry of the Interior, as well as other people who had contributed to the establishment of the Bureau.
