Prime Minister Pahor meets Croatian President Stjepan Mesić

The Prime Minister of the Republic of Slovenia, Borut Pahor, today met the President of the Republic of Croatia, Stjepan Mesić, who is paying an official visit to Slovenia. The two leaders focused on positive development of bilateral relations, as witnessed by a number of bilateral meetings.

Prime Minister Pahor and President Mesič also touched upon the conclusion of the arbitration agreement between Slovenia and Croatia in November last year and the process of its ratification. They agreed that the meeting of the prime ministers of the two countries the previous day was extremely successful and proves the readiness of both countries to resume political dialogue and to strengthen economic co-operation. The discussions also focused on the situation in the Western Balkans and the future of the Western Balkan countries in Europe.

At the conclusion of the meeting, Prime Minister Pahor reiterated Slovenia's readiness and the expectation the two countries will also solve other outstanding issues, that a new joint commission will be successful in its work and that Croatia will soon conclude accession negotiations with the European Union.
