Prime Minister Pahor at ceremony celebrating 250 years of education in Lenart

The Prime Minister of the Republic of Slovenia, Borut Pahor, this evening attended a ceremony in Lenart to celebrate the municipal holiday and 250 years of education in the local municipality. In his address, Prime Minister Pahor stressed that today’s holiday was important not only for the municipality, but also for Slovenian education, as "these 250 years have been devoted to sharing knowledge, communicating values and educating children and young people."

"Slovenia devotes considerable attention to education, as one of the fundamental factors in society, which also serves to unite Slovenia," said Mr Pahor, giving assurances that Slovenia will continue to strive to ensure quality education. "This requires continued investment in school and sports infrastructure as well as in additional education of teachers and head teachers," added Mr Pahor, highlighting the latter, in particular, as being of paramount importance in fostering the growth of both teachers and students.

At the close of his address, Mr Pahor thanked and commended all those whose efforts have contributed to the longstanding tradition of education in Lenart, which has supported the education and development of generations of children and young people: "It is my wish that your joint path will remain bright, pleasant and productive. I hope that you will continue to educate and develop young people, who are the future of our society, with passion and courage."
