Prime Minister’s press conference

At today’s press conference, the Prime Minister of the Republic of Slovenia, Borut Pahor, presented the key resolutions and decisions adopted at the 34th regular Government session.

Mr Pahor began by re-emphasising his view that the resignation of Croatian Prime Minister Ivo Sanader was an internal matter of the neighbouring republic. He also hoped that this event would not divert Croatia from finding a solution to the border dispute between the two countries.  "I expect that a new government will be appointed as soon as possible and that the Slovenian-Croatian entanglement will see an early resolution, allowing us to consolidate bilateral relations at a new and higher level."

At today’s session, the Government defined the text of the draft Act Amending the Financial Operations, Insolvency Proceedings and Compulsory Dissolution Act. The amendments proposed by this bill are urgent, as they will regulate the situation when insolvent debtors are no longer capable of paying minimum wages to workers. The bill will also facilitate the procedure for creditors in substantiating the conditions for initiating bankruptcy and provide adequate control over the debtor before the beginning of insolvency proceedings. In addition, the new text lays down the obligation of the Minister of Justice to define the rules on rates determining remuneration to receivers in bankruptcy procedures in order to eliminate existing disparities. Prime Minister Pahor stressed the urgency of this amendment, as due to disparities in bankruptcy procedures the burden is unjustly unloaded onto workers' shoulders.

The ministerial corps today also defined the text of the E-Government Development and Register Data Exchange Strategy (SREP), which aims to achieve balanced development of electronic commerce in public administration by transferring solutions and good practices created in the field of e-government to other areas of electronic commerce in public administration.
