Prime Minister Borut Pahor visits Sweden

The Prime Minister of the Republic of Slovenia, Borut Pahor, accompanied by an official delegation from Slovenia, including the Minister for Development and European Affairs, Mitja Gaspari, and the Minister of the Economy, Dr Matej Lahovnik, today paid an official visit to the Kingdom of Sweden. As part of the visit, Prime Minister Pahor met the Prime Minister of Sweden, Fredrik Reinfeldt. Their talks focused on the upcoming Swedish EU Council Presidency.

After the meeting, Prime Minister Pahor assessed the talks with his Swedish counterpart, at which they confirmed excellent bilateral relations, as very successful, and expressed satisfaction at the upcoming Swedish EU Council Presidency. "Slovenia fully supports the priorities of the Swedish EU Council Presidency," he stressed. Prime Minister Reinfeldt also took the opportunity to commend Slovenia on its development, highlighting the importance of Slovenia’s experience gained during the Slovenian EU Council Presidency in the first half of 2008.

 

Mr Pahor also met representatives of Swedish companies in Stockholm. They exchanged views on the current economic and financial situation and informed Mr Pahor about the effectiveness of the anti-crisis measures implemented in Sweden. Their talks also focused on the problems facing the banking sector and on preparations for the visit of a Slovenian economic delegation to Sweden at the end of May.

  

As part of his visit, Mr Pahor also held a meeting with the Speaker of the Riksdag (the Swedish Parliament), Per Westerberg.
