In his address, Prime Minister Pahor emphasised the importance of being aware of the consequences of climate change and the urgency of measures to protect the environment. According to the Prime Minister, these two issues will set the tone of the next European Council meeting which he will attend in Brussels tomorrow and the day after tomorrow.

“Europe will respond at such a high political level and in such an ambitious manner for the first time,” commented the Prime Minister on the envisaged decisions concerning the energy and climate change package to be taken by the EU Member States.  As he said, these measures at the European level stem in part from continued warnings about climate issues in the past, and also the former United States vice president should be given credit for global awareness of climate change.
