Prime Minister Janez Janša welcomes the US President

The Prime Minister of the Republic of Slovenia and current President of the European Council, Mr Janez Janša, this evening greeted the President of the United States of America, Mr George W. Bush, on his arrival in Slovenia, at Ljubljana Jože Pučnik Airport. Tomorrow, the US President will attend the EU-US Summit.

The participants of the EU-US Summit, which will also be attended by the President of the European Commission, Mr José Manuel Barroso, the EU High Representative for the Common Foreign and Security Policy, Dr Javier Solana, and other European Commissioners, will discuss regional and security issues, economic partnership and global challenges, such as climate change, and trade negotiations within the World Trade Organization. They will also touch on bilateral issues between the European Union and the United States in the area of economic cooperation, air traffic, security and ensuring the free and safe movement of people and goods. They will exchange views on the most topical international and political issues and on energy security.

The Slovenian Prime Minister and President of the European Council, Janez Janša, and US President George W. Bush will also hold bilateral talks.
